Cath Kidston Nails!

I came across this heavenly photo of some nail art online, and decided to attempt it myself. To me they are the epitome of vintage chic, echoing the gorgeous fabrics found in the famous brand Cath Kidston. The soft pastel colours compliment each other perfectly and varying patters give a patchwork effect.

Example Nails

The nails are painted alternately in two different contrasting yet complimentary designs. So that one design did not outweigh the other, I started one design on each thumb. This way, one hand had 3 pink nails, and the other hand had 3 green nails etc.

My Cath Kidston Nails

The first set of nails are a gorgeous dusky pale pink, OPI Steady As She Rose, with hand painted white stripes running vertically along the nail. The second set are a gentle green, OPI Mermaid’s Tear, with a delicately hand painted floral design on top. I started by painting the basic flower shape, then applied highlights in a darker pink, and a red centre to give depth to the flower. I then lightly painted on two leaves each side of the flower in dark green. I then coated each nail in topcoat to seal in the design and add shine.

The nails were very noticeable and fetched lots of compliments from friends and strangers.
